Presenting Suffrago to the House of Commons Select Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation this Tuesday was meant to be the pinnacle of my personal and professional journey.

Alas, life intervenes: I’m too unwell to attend. Thankfully, though, my brilliant co-directors will present Suffrago to the MPs of this esteemed Select Committee instead. No doubt, they’ll do a better job than I ever could.

I had a neat line prepared: “Unlike the next speakers, Suffrago isn’t rocket science!” Because it isn’t. It’s data science, stitched together with polling, Hansard, AI, and localised news; and soon to evolve into something even bolder: cause-based social media. A credible, ethical alternative to the platforms we’ve grown weary of.

Social media’s promise has decayed. We think we can do better. Democracy demands it.

Note: you’ll be able to watch the Suffrago demo live on Parliament TV. Details of the event are here: https://committees.parliament.uk/committee/135/science-innovation-and-technology-committee/.
